By Amy Susan, Missouri Enterprise Communications Director

Missouri Enterprise is partnering with the State of Missouri to address manufacturing workforce shortages through a new expedited training program. Starting this month, the joint effort will lead its first Basics of Manufacturing session for unemployed area residents to kickstart their skills and interest in the industry. The curriculum includes blueprint reading, basic measuring, manufacturing processes, lean principles, team work, communications, professional behavior, and basic problem solving.

Calling Manufacturers with Hiring Needs!

Individuals who successfully complete the course will take part in an interview process with area manufacturers on the last day of the sessions. Because so many companies are struggling to fill vacant entry-level positions, we anticipate there to be a high level of interest. To ensure your company has a spot at the table for these interviews, please reach out to the point of contact for the Job Centers below. Employers should be prepared to share information about their current workforce needs. The goal is to match these prospective workers with companies in a hiring position as soon as possible.

Those who successfully graduate from the program will earn a Certificate of Completion. These ready to work participants could be the answer to filling entry-level manufacturing positions at your company!
As your advocate and partner in manufacturing, we are pleased to offer this service to you. Our success is dependent on the success of your company and we realize workforce shortages is the biggest challenge in the industry. We hope you will take part in this win, win, win opportunity! When interviewing these candidates, it is good to be reminded that we are at a time of nearly full employment and we are working with individuals who may have barriers such as transportation, child care, etc. As we continue to move towards full employment, recruiting workers without such barriers will be even more challenging.
