Gray Manufacturing Company designs, manufactures, sells and services innovative, high quality and reliable service equipment for the automotive, truck and service vehicle repair industries.
Family owned and operated since the early 1950’s, Gray provides a wide range of lift systems, stands, jacks, ramps and related equipment to a loyal clientele of professional service facilities and enjoys a reputation for superior products and outstanding customer service.
To maintain its position and sharpen its competitive edge in an increasingly international marketplace, Gray launched a Manufacturing Productivity Improvement program in the summer of 2008, beginning with a Value Stream Mapping (VSM) project.
During this process, the company’s continuous improvement team worked with Missouri Enterprise manufacturing specialists to create current and future state Value Stream Maps to graphically represent all value-added and non-value added activities in the company’s manufacturing operation.
Missouri Enterprise manufacturing specialists provided mentoring and assistance to the company’s management team and production staff in addressing a series of opportunities for improvement during a Lean Manufacturing engagement.
According to company reports, Gray Manufacturing realized cost savings of more than $1.3 million during the period of the engagement.
Missouri Enterprise also assisted Gray in meeting the requirements for a European Union CE Mark.
