Lean 101 & Simulation Workshop (ABB)

For the second workshop that is a part of the Transformation Series (which also includes Value Stream Mapping (VSM), 5S and MDI, Lean Leadership, and Lean Product Development workshops), we will learn techniques on how to reduce waste, improve efficiency and drive profitability. Then, you will participate in an interactive simulation to put your skills to the test. In this simulation, you will be given a role in the manufacturing process and experience how inefficiencies can really impact the flow and production. As time goes on and after you pick up Lean concepts, you can apply them to your role and see the vast improvements in real-time. If you want to be more efficient and work smarter, Lean is the place to start. Here, you will be exposed to new thinking when it comes to techniques used to systematically streamline processes—allowing manufacturing companies and their staff to be nimbler, more productive and more profitable.

ABB Motors & Mechanical Inc., the leading marketer, designer, manufacturer, and service provider of industrial electric motors, generators, and mechanical power transmission products is graciously hosting these four workshops in their St. Louis training room and will offer onsite tours of the applicable areas following each session. If you sign up for the four-part series, a different course will be taught each month for four consecutive months, making it convenient, yet top of mind, for companies.

The Continuous Improvement Transformation Series Includes:

Value Stream Mapping, 5S and MDI (March 14, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.)
Lean 101 & Simulation (April 4, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
Lean Leadership (May 16, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
Lean Product Development (June 6, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

The individual Lean 101 & Interactive Simulation Workshop is $295 per person. Lunch is included.

The Instructors -

Stacey Marler – Meet Mr. Buzz, the owner of a manufacturing company that YOU now work for as part of this simulation. Mr. Buzz has zero patience and has one goal in mind—to make money. Over time, this character that Stacey plays will also learn techniques on how to better communicate and incorporate input from his team. When not playing Mr. Buzz, Stacey serves as one of Missouri Enterprise’s Project Managers, helping companies implement continuous improvement techniques as well as sharing his expertise in blueprint reading, engineering, website development, product development, aerospace manufacturing, and Lean Enterprise.  With more than 15 years working in the industry, Stacey currently serves on the Rolla Technical Institute, Drafting Technology Board as President, and is a national level judge for SkillsUSA Technical Drafting competition.

David Felin – Missouri Enterprise’s Project Manager David Felin has 25 years of experience in the areas of engineering, consulting, training and adult education. As an engineer, he has worked in loss prevention, design of manufacturing machinery and processes, robotic work stations, machinery installation and startups and more. His experience in consulting has focused largely on ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing implementation including Kaizen events, technical writing, industrial electricity, fluid power, programmable logic control (PLC) and industrial robotics (FANUS and Mitsubishi robots).
